365 Days Out of My Mind

(In progress)

In 2005 I began to paint a painting a day for a year. At the end of the year I decided to keep working on each painting but only on the day of the year on which each had been begun, thus initiating a process of a Proustian bridging of all the elements of each painting both in composition and in time.

Most of the paintings from the “365 Days Out of my Mind” series presented here are still in progress and continue to grow daily. Often there emerges an over-arching self-portrait that bridges form and ground, landscape and figures, conscious and unconscious elements and creates a final Gestalt image that seems to bring the painting to an apparent conclusion … but the process continues.
